How can I get oxygen data?

There are two reports easily available that are of particular interest for sites working with oxygen: Concordance Reports and Prescribing Data reports.

Concordance reports are provided by your local oxygen provider, which will show the level of use for your patients compared to the prescribed level of oxygen. This information can give feedback into which patients may not be using oxygen at all, or on a clinically inappropriate type of oxygen.

Prescribing cost data is produced monthly, and available to PCTs via the Home Oxygen Therapy Reports hosted by ePact. These monthly reports shows the cost of each type of oxygen prescription.

Building upon the principals of visual management and SPC, monthly monitoring of costs has been used successfully to maintain focus on reducing costs of oxygen prescribing. Many sites have monitored this information on a monthly basis using a run chart, and shown a reduction in their monthly prescribing bill. This has been used to illustrate the productivity savings from the sites.

The PCT medicines management team should be able to support you to access this information.
