The role of the radiology improvement team:

• provide service improvement and redesign expertise,including Lean and Six Sigma methodology
• provide clinical and managerial expertise in radiology and pathology
• support the delivery of timely access, high quality and effective patient-centered diagnostic services
• support the delivery of NHS guidelines and Department of Health (DH) policy.

The team is aligned to the DH diagnsotics strategy and the National Imaging Board and the DH imaging team, led by Dr Erika Denton, DH National Clinical Lead for Imaging and Medical Director of PACS Programme.

National team priorities

• testing Lean methodology across all modalties to achieve a 'no wait service'
• supporting the key workstreams of the NationalImaging Board
• advising challenged sites
• supporting the implementation of the National Stroke Strategy for 2010.
