The Breast day case/one night stay model has spread across England with 72% of breast surgery patients now benefiting from the new pathway .improving the patients experience, quality of care and efficiency for all patients needing breast surgery (without reconstruction). The overall mean length of stay has reduced by 56% and bed days have reduced by 41% (HES 2010/11). Patients satisfaction is high and patients have evaluated the pathway positively.
