National Projects
Prototype Sites
Following the success of the 18 pilot sites across England, as part of the Department of Health National Audiology Programme 2009/10, six of the sites have been identified to work closely with NHS Improvement Audiology programme, until March 2011. Sites will further test innovative ways to improve the quality of the patient experience, increase productivity and sustain improvements. This will be a great opportunity for sites to influence future services and national strategies.
Aim
The aim of the programme will be to focus on the prototyping, primarily across the adult services, to provide further evidence to support the emerging principles. The primary goal will be to see an improvement in quality of service and up to 20% efficiency gain.
Project Sites
- Central Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
- Leicester Royal Infirmary
- Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust
- Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust
- Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- University Hospitals of Birmingham Foundation NHS Trust
Project Team support
Site project teams will receive support from a National Improvement Lead and access to clinical and peer support from the National Audiology Programme Team. Using proven improvement methods, such as Lean methodology, project teams will explore, in more detail, ‘what really works’ and demonstrate measurable benefits of whole pathway redesign, using consistent and agreed measures. Sites will be invited to a series of workshops to assist teams to further develop their project work, share issues and challenges and network. Key learning and outcomes from the prototype projects will be shared across the wider NHS via an Improvement Guide which will be published at the end of the programme.
We look forward to working with the selected prototype sites during 2010/11 and following the progress of remaining sites to share the learning.
