What's new?
Launch of the Lung Improvement Programme
This new NHS Improvement programme has been set up to provide national support for the local improvement of respiratory services. The programme will initially cover COPD, asthma and home oxygen services in England. It is an initiative to support the development of clinical networks and the implementation of the forthcoming National Strategy for COPD.(Dec 09)
Cancer Reform Strategy - Second Annual Report Published
The Department of Health have published the second annual report of its Cancer Reform Strategy. Chapters 3 and 7 highlights the work from the NHS Improvement Cytology pilot sites on how to achieve the 14 day turnaround time and Transforming Inpatient Care programme test sites which emphasises the potential benefits to trusts if they apply the four Winning Principles.

Cytology improvement guide - achieving a 14 day turnaround time in Cytology
This new guide highlights the findings and improvements from the pilot sites who tested how the 14 day standards can be achieved using Lean methodology.This practical guide is supported by tried and tested case studies across the whole patient pathway which NHS staff involved in the screening pathway can adopt and adapt to meet their local setting.(Nov 09)

Cardiac Rehabilitation - National Priority Projects: Lessons and learning one year on...
Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a national priority project of NHS Improvement focusing on increasing the access to, equity of provision and uptake of CR services for heart attack, angioplasty and CABG patients. The project summaries include issues to be addressed, baseline position, actions taken, key learning, QPC outcomes and results to date from the 11 projects participating in this work. (Oct 09)
